People often
seek an internship in order to gain practical experience in their field of interest before seeking positions in the
horse industry; or to fulfill requirements for college courses and so on.
We specialize in training people to pass professional instructor exams
with the USDF ... there are three :
the first
being that of assistant instructor (second level) ;
the
second - the instructor's exam (through fourth level)
and ...
the third - the trainer's license; through Grand Prix.
( There are similar programs in Europe that prepare students to similar to first level instructor /
trainer. However, the applicant must already be showing at first level when
starting the program; and requires some
knowledge of a foreign language.)
Internships that are structured to
meet a specific goal can be
arranged
- as with a Shadow Program, but at a less
intense pace. It is possible an Internship
for set periods of time - over time, in order to work toward
a desired level of achievement.
Interns would be welcome to come back
periodically - as you
are able - to continue your training.
Should the intern decide to pursue an
apprenticeship at some point,
he / she would already know the "routine" and could
pick up where they
left off as an Apprentice without having to pay the tuition
costs again.
We are in the process of setting up a program whereby
Internships
can "specialized" and receive certification
for that particular
area of study, for example :
riding w/
emphasis on stable management;
riding w/ emphasis on minor veterinary concerns / nutrition;
riding w/ emphasis on becoming a scribe at shows and showing
in general.
These goals can be worked toward over a non-specified period
of time -
until the requirements have been met and proficiency
has been achieved.
For
those who are interested in becoming a Working Student
-
we sometimes accept a limited number of persons willing to
work
in exchange
for riding instruction.
Riding Instruction / housing and money earned will be
exchanged
on a direct
dollar for dollar basis.
Each person will need to be trained RE: proper procedure.
A resume,
references and personal interview are required.
Duties assigned will depend upon the individual's level of
skill
and experience.
Be sure to mention any "special skills" that
you may have.
